The secret of success behind pasta products served in a pasta bowl is cloaked in apparent simplicity. They are made from durum wheat semolina, cooking salt and water, and can be cooked al dente within a very short space of time before taking on impressive shapes and an excellent taste. Pasta can be combined with virtually all types of meat, fish, seafood and vegetables which means that adventurous amateur chefs will never get bored. Villeroy & Boch has been inspired to translate these characteristics into porcelain pasta plates. High-quality porcelain has been formed out of pure components to produce low-maintenance crockery with versatile aesthetics that can be used to create different table settings for every meal.
For centuries, Villeroy & Boch has been working on innovative production processes, which, in previous centuries, led to the birth of a new generation of European porcelain. Despite this major success, our developers did not ease up and continued developing and modernising the production process. For this reason, most pasta plates and dishes from today's collections are made of premium porcelain – a extremely hard material which stands out for its gleaming white shine. For selected pasta plates, exclusive premium bone porcelain is used which gets its soft shine from the high proportion of calcinated bone ash. Both types of porcelain have a particularly high resistance to impacts and are considerably tough around the edges. The plates are also strengthened by the lead-free glaze which also seals in the delicate patterns.
A particularly large portion of Mediterranean heart and soul has been put into the Pasta Passion collection. The spaghetti plate is perfect for long pasta such as tagliatelle or spaghetti. The recess on the edge of the plate which is typical of the entire pasta series prevents the fork from slipping or coming off the edge of the plate. A small built-in well helps when turning the pasta and means that pasta enthusiasts can go without a spoon. Shorter pasta such as farfalle, penne and maccaroni can also be stylishly served in the simple pasta bowl from the Pasta Passion collection.
